Main Street Is For Lovers

A devoted duo stroll through Chatham

Whether you seek a quiet dinner by candlelight or an evening of music and dancing, you need venture no further than Main Street this Valentine's Day.

Restaurants in Madison and Chatham are featuring an impressive array of specials-- there really is something for every tastebud, age group and relationship status.

Several local favorites, though offering their daily menus, promise surprising treats this weekend.

Italian restaurant Gregorios in Chatham will dish up its regular, reasonably priced menu.

Mitsuba, a trendy Japanese restaurant with an excellent sushi bar, will  present a Valentine sushi roll and a special from the kitchen on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

If you are craving some spice,  Taste of Asia II is a great selection.  Bringing an eclectic mix of Malay, Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisine to Main Street, this Chatham hot spot will serve a host of great dishes and a special $14.50 dinner, which includes salad, appetizer, entree and a side.  For an early treat, try dim sum between 12:00 and 2:30 pm on Sunday.

For a real romantic splurge, enjoy a three-course prix fixe meal at Scalini Fedeli or Serenade in Chatham.  On Sunday, Scalini Fedeli boasts a $90 per person spread, with not only three delectable courses, but two mini-courses in between.

Serenade's mouth-watering selections are $85 per person.  Choose from appetizers such as scallops, pumpkin soup, tuna tar tar, or crab cakes; entrees of salmon, sea bass, halibut, pork, beef, lamb; and desserts like a lover’s sampler cake, berry cobbler, warm chocolate tart or lemon tart.

In Madison, Main Street staples The Garlic Rose and Soho 33 will serve their regular menus all weekend, with dishes ranging from pasta and steak to a wide variety of seafood.

For a five-course treat, visit Top Notch on Sunday for its prix fixe dinner modestly priced at $26.95.

Il Mondo Veccio will also offer a five-course delight, with a $75 per person dinner.

If none of those options appeal to you and you would like to "jazz it up" this year, head to Shanghai Jazz in Madison on Saturday or Sunday night.  On Saturday, catch the Champion Fulton Trio, a star vocalist/pianist who performs the Great Ladies of Jazz.

While taking in the evening's entertainment, savor the full-course dinner with a trio of appetizers, an entree and dessert sampler.  The cost for the evening is $69 per person. Seatings are at 6:30 and 8:45 p.m.

On Sunday evening, the multi-Grammy winning Helio Alves Quartet, featuring Brazilian Vocalists Maucha Adnet, will perform.  At $75 per person for dinner, music and dancing, this Valentine's evening is sure to be one to remember.  Seatings are at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.

With so many choices nearby, you cannot go wrong this Valentine's Day.  Grab some friends or a loved one and head into town!
