A newspaper delivery van tipped over on Park Avenue in Madison at 3:17 a.m. this morning after colliding with a car that pulled in front of it, authorities said.

A third car then struck the delivery van, Madison police said.

The three drivers and a passenger were taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, Lt. Darren Dachisen said.

A 1996 Toyota Camry driven by Ephraim Rene, 20, of Newark turned left onto Park Avenue from Danforth Road into the lane of a Daily Record delivery van. The delivery van was driven by Angel Rodriguez, 51, of the Ledgewood section of Roxbury, Dachisen said.

The car and van collided, causing the delivery van to tip over, police said. Traveling behind the van was a third vehicle, driven by Charles Messina, 20, of Livingston, which hit the van, police said.

Rene was issued a summons for failure to stop or yield. No other summonses have been issued. The accident is still under investigation, Dachisen said.

Information about the injured passenger wasn’t immediately available. The Madison Fire Department assisted at the scene.
